Hi Friends,
Just wanted to say hello, quickly celebrate our first birthday and link you to some resources for various grassroots Los Angeles relief efforts, including those directly relating to our music and publishing community.
The Support The Music Community - Fire Loss + Resource Tab spreadsheet that our friend started is an unfortunately growing list of artists and music industry professionals who have lost their lodging, accompanied by their specific needs and links (such as GoFundMe campaigns for immediate, short-term relief).
There are some ideas on how to help people in Los Angeles (including incarcerated firefighters) in my guide to providing mutual aid from afar that I put together for our media partner 48 Hills.
Dublab is looking for music donations for a fundraising sale on Feb. 2. They’re accepting shipped or dropped off donations.
Listen to Music Outside in the Daylight Under the Tree reconvenes with a Fire Aid benefit in LA’s Elysian Park on Feb. 8.
On the grants side, affected writers, creatives and publishing professionals can apply for grants from We Need Diverse Books.
We Are Moving the Needle Microgrants are open to early and mid-career engineers, producers, and creators who have lost studio space or gear.
We are so grateful to all of you for hanging out and connecting here over the past year! Thank you for being here. I’ll program some more live Zoom conversations for us to enjoy beginning in March. In the meantime, I will share some author interviews, book news, recommendations, insights and the first of my own Music Book Club ebooks. You can also catch up on recordings of our past conversations in the Events section.
Love,
Tamara
